Cleaning

17-19

Although GRANEX® is a unique fiberglass reinforced polyester, the cleaning procedures are similar to those used on brick, stone and concrete masonry surfaces. The extent of staining depends largely on the type of stain and the extent to which it is absorbed by the GRANEX® stone. The sooner the panels are cleaned, the better the final results.

Most dust and dirt deposited on panels due to on-site conditions may be removed simply with water or water with a light detergent mix. For more stubborn staining, a high pressure water/detergent solution applied at between 500-1,000 psi and thoroughly rinsed should suffice.

When all else fails, the following measures may be attempted: A 10% solution of mariatic acid in water or a light sandblasting, followed by thorough rinsing. While the above methods have been extremely effective, please remember that workers must be fully protected against possible injury.

The above information is a guide only. Any stain removal treatment should be first tested on a small, less noticeable location before the entire area is attempted.
