Text (16 of 23) in How to Specify and Install GRANEX
17-16
Using appropriate masonry or stone cutting tools, GRANEX® may
be sawn, drilled or routed on site. An abrasive carborundum cut-off saw
blade is the usual method for cutting GRANEX®.
When a great deal of cutting is required, a more expensive diamond
saw blade may be practical. GRANEX® specs should be given to your
local blade manufacturer in order to receive the correct blade for use
with GRANEX®. Both types of blades are normally installed on either a
circular saw or table saw. Cutting should be done from the back of the
panel with the blade set in order to completely cut through the full
thickness of the panel.
When drilling GRANEX®, a carbide tipped masonry drill should be
used. Circumstances will dictate whether drilling will be from the back or
face of the panel. Either way is acceptable. When drilling from the
aggregate face of the panel, the fastener head may be disguised more
effectively by choosing a point for the drilled hole between stones.
