Text (6 of 7) in Concealed Fastening Systems
16-6
The Silicone Set System uses a structural silicone between the
GRANEX® panels and a subframe of specially coated aluminum extrusions
to fasten the panels without any screws. The installed cost of this system
is 50% to 60% more than conventional face fastening.
The aluminum extrusions onto which the silicone and two sided tape
are applied, are supplied in different shapes as shown on the sketches.
These are fastened to the subwall with screws. It is important that the
amount of thermal expansion which the aluminum extrusions will undergo,
relative to the subwall, he considered. Oversized or slotted holes and
gaps between the ends of adjacent pieces, will be required. While the
structural silicone sets to its full strength, a two sided tape is used to
hold the panels firmly in place.
