Part 1 General
1.01 DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The scope of this specification is intended to cover RoofDeck panels as shown on drawings.
1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE
1.02.01 CHEMCLAD® products as manufactured by GRAHAM FRP Composites, Inglewood,
Ontario represent the level of quality required.
1.02.02 Manufacturer of FRP RoofDeck panels shall be ISO 9001 certified.
1.03 PRODUCT SUBSTITUTIONS
1.03.01 The materials specified in this section establish a minimum quality and performance
standard to be met by any substitution.
1.03.02 Applications for substitution must include samples and technical information.
Part2 Products
2.01 MATERIALS AND FINISHES
2.01.01 RoofDeck units shall be (select):
6.0 x 2.0 FRP fluted RoofDeck
8.0 x 3.5 FRP fluted RoofDeck
2.01.02 Reinforcement shall be continuous unidirectional glass fiber, at 0 and 90 degrees to the
panel axis, comprising a minimum of 47% of panel weight when tested by burnout (ASTM D-482).
2.01.03 Panels shall be made of (select)
Vinylester resin with Flame Spread Index of 25 or less.
GFM Isopolyester formulation with Flame Spread Index of 10 or less when tested in accordance
with ASTM E-84.
2.01.04 Evidence of full scale testing to establish stiffness and deflection characteristics shall be
provided to ensure that specified spans and load capacities shall be met. Deflection maximum
under winduplift loads and dead plus live loads is L/180.
2.01.05 Interior finish shall be textured, exterior shall be smooth.
2.01.06 Fasteners and washers shall be stainless steel (Grade 304 or 316), and sidelap fasteners
shall be 2B2 grommets spaced in accordance with manufacturers instructions.
2.01.07 6.0 x 2.0 RoofDeck shall be nominal 16 oz./sq.ft. ±10%, 0.10 inches thick with stiffness
(El) minimum of 1.3 x 10E+06 lb.in˛/ft. Width shall be 37.75 inches ±.125 inches. 8.0 x 3.5
RoofDeck shall be nominal 23 oz./sq.ft. ±10%, 0.12 inches thick with stiffness (El) minimum 2.0 x
10E+06 lb.in˛/ft. Width shall be 25.5 inches ±.125 inches.
2.02 STRUCTURAL PARAMETERS FOR DECKING
2.02.01 Decking panels shall meet the following load and design criteria for the spans shown on
the drawings.
Deck Panels Uniform Load ________psf
Allowable deflection - L/180, FOS 2.5
2.03 FABRICATION
2.03.01 Panels shall be factory produced by continuous process under a registered ISO 9001
quality management system or equivalent.
Part3 Execution
3.01 Inspection
3.01.01 Check alignment of supports before placing panels. Bearing surfaces for panels must be
clean.
3.01.02 After placing on supports, adjust panels to final position with proper bearing and
alignment at joints, laps, and supports before fastening.
3.02 HANDLING AND STORAGE OF FRP ROOFING SIDING, AND LINER PANELS
3.02.01 Protect panel surfaces from cuts, scratches, gouges, abrasions, and impacts.
3.02.02 Store panels with one end elevated; do not store flat. Keep all FRP materials covered –
do not stack or store other materials on top of panels. Store materials in a dry location, off the
ground, and allow for ventilation.
