Research by the composites industry has produced effective
protection methods against ultra-violet rays. CHEMCLAD® materials are
furnished with advanced UV stabilizers to insure a long and high quality
service life. In addition, a specially formulated acrylic polymer coating,
Excelac UV Shield, can be shop or field applied for added protection. With
these advanced protection methods, CHEMCLAD® panels have superior UV
protection and longer color retention.
For new construction projects or as replacements for deteriorated
metal and cement board, CHEMCLAD® roofing and siding panels are
furnished in profiles to match virtually any industrial building panel.
Please inquire for the availability of profiles not listed in this
category.
Panels are provided in various weights and laminates to cover a
broad range of structural and building requirements. Standard colors
include grey, white, beige, stone white, and translucent. In addition,
custom colors are easily formulated to match existing materials or for
special requirements. In CHEMCLAD® opaque panels, color is pigmented
throughout the material.
CHEMCLAD® FRP panels are furnished in a variety of standard
colors, except for 6.0 x 2.0 and 8.0 x 3.5 RoofDeck, which are available
in Brite White (C362) only. These colors have proven to be the most
popular for industrial building and are specified for over 80% of
applications. In addition to the standards, custom colors are easily
formulated and provided to meet customer needs using Hunter-Lab
Spectrophotometer and CMC color tolerancing.
It is important to note colors will vary with resin selection. For
example polyester gray is a different shade when compared to vinyl ester
gray.
With the CHEMCIAD® UV protection system, color quality can be
retained much longer than coated metal in corrosive conditions. However,
some discoloration may occur under specific environmental conditions.
Moisture trapped between panels in stacks (improperly stored) can produce
a clouding effect on the panels which is permanent. Please refer to items
titled "Handling and Storage" and "Cutting" for
instructions.
Three suface finishes are offered. Standard CHEMCLAD® roofing
and siding panels have a textured finish on the weather side of the panel
and a smooth finish on the interior side. The textured weather finish
produces a resin rich surface that enhances panel weatherability. A smooth
exterior finish is offered for some CHEMCLAD® panels at an additional
cost.
Glassveil (Surface H) is specified for extra corrosion protection.
Excelac Acrylic clearcoat (Surface E) can be added to any surface for
extra weatherability and protection from UV radiation which can gradually
oxidize the exposed surface, causing discoloration. Panels can be
resurfaced with site applied Excelac, though this is rarely done.
